August 20 Law Day results listed

Judge Robert L. Koffman heard the following cases during the Aug. 20 Law Day docket:

*Claxton, Dejuan, 28, Sedalia, pleaded guilty to two counts of driving while revoked. Sedalia Police Officer Kevin Klein arrested the defendant April 2 and again on April 20 for the offenses, which were felonies due to the defendant’s prior convictions. The case was continued to September 4 for sentencing.

*Curd, Kent, 48, Sedalia, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance. He was arrested May 17 when the Sedalia Police Department served a search warrant at the defendant’s home on South Carr, finding him in possession of crack cocaine. He was sentenced to serve 7 years in prison.

*Fleeger, William, 45, Kansas City, entered a guilty plea to felon in possession of a firearm. The defendant was a passenger in a vehicle stopped February 14 by Sedalia Police Officer Michael Elwood. The officer found a handgun in the defendant’s possession. The defendant is prohibited from possessing any firearm because he is a convicted felon. After entering an Alford guilty plea (agreeing that the evidence was sufficient to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, the defendant was sentenced to 4 years in prison.

*Forsee, Christina, 24, Sedalia, pleaded guilty to stealing, admitting she stole appliances, furniture and other items from Frank Hayes, Jr. July 27. She was sentenced to serve 5 years in prison and ordered into the shock incarceration program. She was also ordered to pay restitution to the victim if granted probation upon successful completion of the program.

*Gardner, Christopher, 39, Sedalia, pleaded guilty to delivery of a controlled substance. After a traffic stop July 9 during which Sedalia Police Officer Kevin Klein found methamphetamine, the defendant admitted he had delivered methamphetamine to another person shortly before the stop. He was sentenced to serve 8 years in prison.

*Haley, Jr., Edwin, 42, Sedalia, pleaded guilty to assault in the second degree in connection with a January 28 collision at the north edge of Sedalia. The defendant was traveling the wrong way on Highway 765 when he collided with a vehicle driving by Ricardo Campos-Resendiz. An investigation by Missouri Highway Patrol Cpl. Eric Keim showed that the defendant’s blood alcohol level was over 0.20% (more than 2 ½ times the legal limit.” The defendant was sentenced to serve 4 years in prison.

*Stephens, Sean, 46, Sedalia, pleaded guilty to attempt to manufacture a controlled substance, possession of a precursor chemical and possession of drug paraphernalia. Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. Nathan Ahern arrested the defendant April 9 after finding remnants of a meth lab discarded along a county road north of Sedalia. The defendant was sentenced to serve 12 years in prison.

*And on August 23, Crystal Thomas, 22, pleaded guilty to stealing. During an investigation by Sedalia Police Officer Daniel Benner, the defendant admitted she stole more than $500 from Marten’s Mini-Mart while employed at the business in late May. She was sentenced to serve 7 years in prison and the Court ordered her to complete the Institutional Treatment Program.
