Pittsburgh Corning water tower coming down

Welders were busy cutting apart the old Pittsburgh Corning water tower at the Sedalia plant Thursday morning. The tower, which hasn’t been used in years, is being dismantled. The company previously used their own water but now they are hooked up to the city water system, so the water tower is no longer needed, according to a source. It is a Sedalia landmark for many residents, highly visible around Christmas time when it is decorated with lights. And the loud whistle attached to it, that used to blow daily at 8 a.m., 12 and 4 p.m, is now silent.
