Rick Ball Ford wallops Warrensburg

Sedalia’s Rick Ball Ford Junior Legion scored in every inning but the fourth and Matt Miles pitched a three-hit shutout as Rick Ball Ford crushed the Warrensburg Warriors 16-0 in first round of the Sedalia Fourth of July Wood Bat Tournament Friday night at Dey Field at Liberty Park Stadium.

Rick Ball Ford, 16-7 on the season, batted around and scored four rims in the first inning on just one hit four walks and two Warrensburg errors.

The Sedalia team sent 13 batters to the plate in the second inning and tallied seven more runs on five hits, two walks and three more errors to lead 11-0 after two innings.

Five more Sedalia runs cussed the plate in the bottom of the third to, take a 16-0 lead after three innings.

Miles took a no-hitter to the third, but gave up a singe in the third. He gave up a leadoff single in the forth and a leadoffs double in the fifth.

Miles struck out eight and walked one to get the win.

Doing everything they could to avoid a shutout Warrensburg tried to but with one it in the fifth and a runner at third. The bunt was popped up and caught and the runner was doubled off to preserve the shutout.

Luke Archibeque led the 10-hit Sedalia attack with three hits in three trips to the plate, waked once, drove in three runs and scored four times. Aaron Dieckman went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and scored three times. Mason Kelchner drove in a run with an infield single hit. Lane McFail single in a run in Sedalia’s four-run fourth.

In Friday’s other first-round game, Post 21 of Independence shutout Oak Grove 2-0.
