Lincoln man killed in motorcycle accident in Benton County

Michael W. Popp, 48, Lincoln, Mo., was killed in a traffic accident that occurred in Benton County on Saturday morning at 10 a.m., June 23, the Missouri Highway Patrol reported.

The fatal accident occurred as the driver of a northbound 1985 Toyota, Amanda J. Yoder, 19, Cole Camp, pulled into the path of Popp after she made a left turn and the southbound 1999 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by Popp, struck the Toyota.

Both vehicles came to rest off the roadway. Popp was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene by Benton County Coroner James Miller at 11:07 a.m.

The body was taken to Fox Funeral Home in Cole Camp.

Yoder suffered minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene, the patrol said in its report.

The accident occurred on Route F, 15 feet south of Chat Avenue.

Highway Patrol Cpl. C. M. Clair, assisted by Cole Camp Police, Fire, EMS and the Benton County Sheriff’s Department, worked the accident scene.
