Verna M. (Monsees) Shernaman, 89 of La Monte, died Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at Bothwell Regional Health Center. She was born on Nov. 20, 1922, in Mora, a daughter of Martin and Agnes (Rosebrock) Monsees.
On July 1, 1945, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Cole Camp, she was united in marriage to Robert C. Shernaman, who preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 2002.
She was co-manager of Shernaman Farms and office manager and major supporter of LA Raceway. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her great grandchildren, Casey and Peyton.
She is survived by three children, Charles Shernaman of La Monte, Maxine Shernaman of Sedalia and Carolyn White and her husband Mike of La Monte; two sisters, Lydia Monsees of Cole Camp and Edna Strelow of Sedalia; one sister-in-law, Laverne Monsees of Sedalia; two grandchildren, Michael White and his wife Sara, and Wesley White; two great grandchildren, Casey and Peyton White; two step grandchildren, Tom White and his wife Dana, and Wendy Larsen and her husband Clint; three step great grandchildren, MacKenzie and Spencer White, and Chance Larsen.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Clarence and Ralph Monsees.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 29 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia, with Pastor Gene Smith officiating.
Burial will be in Knob Noster Cemetery.
Family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
Pallbearers will be Michael White, Wesley White, Steve Frazon, Dennis Mueller, Victor Monsees and Eric Monsees.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Dialysis Clinic of Sedalia in care of the funeral chapel.
