Martin Allen Bowen, 52, of Cole Camp, died Thursday, May 17, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family and friends. He was born on Nov. 3, 1959, in Independence, a son of James R. and Joan L. (Graham) Bowen.
On Sept. 1, 2001, in Sedalia, he was married to Kay Sinclair, who survives of the home.
He worked as a paramedic at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed woodworking, trapping and taxidermy. Bowen served his country honorably in the US Marine Corps.
He is survived by his mother, Joan Bowen, of Independence, and two children, Sarah Goss, of Lee’s Summit and Perry Goss, of Springfield; two sisters, Kerry Rogers and her husband Wally of Kansas City and Vicky Bowen of Independence; two sister-in-laws, Elaine Shull and her significant other, Don Sparks of Sedalia and Dianna Niehouse and her husband Paul of Lee’s Summit; one brother-in-law, Steve Sinclair and his wife Jenein of Sedalia; two grandchildren, Soleil and Barron Goss-Short, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, May 21 at Rea Funeral Chapel with Pastor Tony Chapman officiating.
Honorary bearers will be Crystal Goucher, Sheri Stewart, Rick Reynolds, Denny Burton, Kayleen Thomas, Kelly Mutch and Rhonda Jewell.
Full military honors conducted by VFW Post 2591.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
Memorial contributions may be given to Golden Valley Memorial Hospital or the Marty Bowen Memorial Scholarship in care of Golden Valley Memorial Hospital.
