In October of last year, husband and wife duo Kevin and Alicia Stewart opened Bestflight Entertainment Group, located at 140 S. Limit, a business that specializes in booking Christian musical acts nationwide.

The News-Journal had a chance to sit down briefly with Kevin and discuss their business, and what it is that they do.

Kevin was asked how he and his wife became involved in Christian entertainment.

“I was in Christian radio for years. Being with Christian radio, I was able to learn a lot about gospel recordings, the groups out there, and their message,” Stewart said.

He added, “When I left Christian radio I cried so hard that I couldn’t see the road. I made God a promise. If he put me in a position to minister, I would never walk away. I am in this for the rest of my life.

“This is a ministry. We don’t see it as a career.”

Stewart was asked how many shows Bestflight Entertainment Group has booked since opening their doors.

“Since November, six. People are asking for me to bring gospel music to their area. I didn’t anticipate that. I thought we would have to go into an area and build a following,” Stewart said.

Stewart was asked who are some the entertainers that he has worked with.

“A friend of mine, Russ Taff. On the 24th, Russ Taff will be all over the tv on the Gospel Music Channel. They are having a tribute for him, honoring his work in Christian music.

“We are really proud to be a part of an event in Central Missouri. He is a seven-time Grammy winner. He wants to come here and sing in a church instead of going back home to Nashville,” Stewart explained.

“We’ve got something huge coming up in December. The Crabb Family is coming to the Fred Davis Multipurpose Center. If you don’t know who they are, look them up on youtube. They are all over Christian radio.

“Coke is interested in doing a national concert series, and they like The Crabb Family. It may go from the three dates in Sedalia, Springfield and St. Charles.

“We may continue after Christmas down in Tulsa, Dallas, and San Antonio,” Stewart said.

Another act that will be in the area is the Bowling Family.

“The Bowling Family are the folks that will be coming to the Marshall Fairgrounds on June 22,” Stewart said.

Bestflight Entertainment Group has a special logo for their business. It is a cross with a microphone wrapped around it. The cross has angel wings coming from it. The whole image is surrounded by light.

The logo has special meaning.

“All parts of the logo mean something. The light in the background symbolizes the spirit of God. The mic around the cross symbolizes that everything we do is around the cross.

“The angel wings are a type of delivery. When a gospel group takes the stage, their message comes on angel’s wings,” Stewart explained.

If people are interested in Bestflight Entertainment Group, and the acts that they book, feel free to visit their website at www.bestflightentertainment.com. People can call (660) 827-3300, or (660) 281-4315 for more information on Bestflight Entertainment group.
