Rice signs to play volleyball for CMU

Cole Camp Bluebird senior Shelby Rice (seated, center) signed a four-year letter of intent on Monday, April 16 to play volleyball for Central Methodist University (CMU) in Fayette this fall on an athletic/academic scholarship.

Seated with her are Shelby’s parents, Mindy and Brian Rice. Standing behind them from left are William Smart, Cole Camp athletic director; Diane Shipley, CMU head volleyball coach; and Lindsey Tinney, Cole Camp High School head volleyball coach. Shelby has two siblings — Cory Rice, 23; and Erin Rice, 21.

Shelby’s athletic accomplishments include:

Volleyball – Three-time Kaysinger Conference slection, three-time All-District selection and First Team All Region.

Basketball – Three time Kaysinger All-Conference, two-time All-District; Sedalia Democrat All-Area Team,  KMZU Dream Team, Warsaw All-Tournament TEam, Stover All-Tournament Team, W-K Shootout All-Tournament Team.

Track – All-State in the Triple Jump.
