Carolyn J. Sutherlin, 70, of Climax Springs, formerly of Sedalia, died Monday, March 26, 2012, at Lake Regional Health Center in Osage Beach.
She was born June 29, 1941, in Sedalia, a daughter of the late William R. and Alice A. (Deschamp) Moser. On Dec. 26, 1959, at Sacred Heart Church, Sedalia, she married Gene Sutherlin, who survives of the home.
She was a 1959 graduate of Sacred Heart High School and attended CMSU in Warrensburg briefly before her marriage. After Carolyn and Gene married, they lived in North Carolina until Gene was discharged from the military. They returned to Sedalia, where three children were born. While living in Sedalia, she worked at Bing’s, Sedalia Bank and Trust, and the telephone company. The family then moved to Coffeyville, Kan., and then to Manhattan, KS, where the fourth child was born. They moved to Independence, Mo., where she drove a school bus for eight years, and later moved to Texas City, Texas. Carolyn’s health began to decline in 1994, and when Gene retired in 1999, they moved to Climax Springs. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, baking, gardening, fishing and being outdoors. She was a loving wife and mother and took good care of her children.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Gene Selken Sutherlin, of Texas City, Texas; three daughters, Sheryl Ann White (Greg), of Houston, Texas, Kimberly Jean Thurmond (Darren), of Santa Fe, Texas, and Alice Annette Klacker (Matt), of San Antonio, Texas; a sister, Annette Truda (Robert), of St. Paul, Minn.; and three grandchildren, Lauren Waldrip, Abigail Waldrip and Kyle Waldrip.
Mrs. Sutherlin was cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
