Virginia C. Sprinkle Frontera, 75, of Sedalia, died Sunday, March 25, 2012 at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
Born April 14, 1936 in Sedalia, she was the daughter of the late Ernest R. and Alma B. Crafton Simmons. On May 29, 1953 in Otterville, she married Thomas Sprinkle, who preceded her in death on May 13, 1993. On Dec. 28, 1998 in Excelsior Springs, she married Sylvester “Bud” Frontera, Jr., who survives of the home.
Also surviving are three daughters, Cathy Ann Pierce (Bob), Debra Kay Wheeler (Ronnie) and Karen C. Sprinkle, all of Sedalia; two sons, Tommy D. Sprinkle (Tara) and Randy R. Sprinkle (Charlotte), all of Sedalia; a step-son, Jeffery Frontera (Joani), of Warrensburg; a brother, Alonzo Neil Simmons (Billie), of Bates City; a brother-in-law, Larry Farnsworth, of Kansas City, Mo.; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Ernest C. Simmons; and a sister Marilyn E. Farnsworth.
Mrs. Frontera was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was a cook for the Sedalia School District for many years. She loved cleaning house, cooking, baking, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a love of animals, especially her dogs, Muffy and Trixie. She was also a volunteer with Meals on Wheels.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 29 at the First United Methodist Church Celebration Center, with the Rev. Jim Downing, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Sedalia Animal Shelter, or the ASPCA, in care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
