Dixie L. Cardwell, 81, of Sedalia, died Monday, March 26, 2012, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
She was born Oct. 23, 1930, in Aaron, Mo., a daughter of Harold Guy and Gladys Marie Mickleberry Thompson. On Nov. 21, 1948, in Warsaw, she married Don Russell Cardwell who preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 1992.
She was a member of the Parkview Christian Church. She worked at Tullis-Hall Dairy and White Cleaners. She was a good seamstress, was well known for her cooking and baking. She loved flowers and at one time she had 125 African Violets. She also liked helping others.
Surviving are a son, Russell Cardwell and his wife Phyllis, of Sedalia; two sisters, Bessie Suiter, of Warsaw and Eleanor Harris, of Rogersville; two grandsons, David Cardwell and Chris Lewis.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Audrey Thompson; two brothers, Charles and Leland Thompson.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Heckart Funeral Home with Rev. Rodney Brown officiating.
Honorary casket bearers will be David Bishop, Chris Lewis, Gene Woolery, John Roy Thompson, John Cardwell and David Cardwell.
Burial will be in Highland Sacred Gardens Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 am until service time Wednesday at Heckart Funeral Home.
