Elsie Mae Zaremba, 84, of Sedalia died Sunday, March 18, 2012 at Bothwell Regional Health Center. She was born Dec. 18, 1927, the daughter of John W. and Amy R. (Boyer) Caldwell. Elsie and John Zaremba were united in marriage, and he preceded her in death.
She attended school in Morgan County. She was proud of her education and often told her children that she walked barefoot eight miles to school. She started a nursing career by being a candy striper and then a nurse in Jefferson City and Kansas City.
She had a passion for buying and selling. She shared this passion with her children, and was well known at local flea markets and for her own antique business. She also worked at Pic Wic Cafe and she made great bread and pies.
She had many friends and she was a great wife, mother and grandmother. She was a religious woman and she loved preaching the Bible.
She is survived by three sons, Ronnie Zaremba of Timberville, Va., and Jon and Joe Zaremba, both of Sedalia; her daughter-in-law; Terry Zaremba, eight grandchildren; several great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son Zack Zaremba; two infant daughters, Jennifer Zaremba and Bootsie Zaremba; her great grandson, Jacob Zaremba; six sisters and five brothers.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 24 at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, March 23 at the funeral home.
