The Sedalia Noonday Optimist Club conducted their annual Oratorical Contest on March 13 at State Fair Motor Inn, 32nd and Limit, under the direction of local attorney Randy Sparks.
First place winner (at right) is Riley Garner, a junior at Smith-Cotton Senior High School. Second place winner (at left) is Tristin Baro, also a junior at Smith-Cotton. Each was accompanied by Teri Turner, the speech and theater instructor at S-C. The topic of the speech was ‘How optimism helps me overcome obstacles.’
