Lawrence J. Weller, 86, of Sedalia, died Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
He was born July 12, 1925, a son of the late Louis and Magdelena (Bruehl) Weller. On Sept. 3, 1952, he married Betty Closser, who survives.
He served his country honorably in the US Army. He was a truck driver. He worked for Royal Crown Cola 25 years, and then worked at Edwards Fiberglass for over 25 years. He owned Weller Trucking & Weller Pilot car service, and escorted wide loads for Edwards Fiberglass for many years. He loved to drive trucks and after retiring at age 80, he enjoyed driving around town in his pickup truck. He enjoyed being around his kids and grandkids. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
He is also survived by five children, Gene Weller (Gail), Judy Evans, Lena Curry (Donnie), Millie Harms (Stan), and Jim Weller (Janet), all of Sedalia; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynda Wilson, three brothers, Charles, Raymond & Leroy Weller; two sisters, Marie Wagner and Amelia Young; and two great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Friday, March 16 at Sacred Heart Church with Father James Betzen, C.PP.S. officiating. Pallbearers will be Larry Evans, Gary Evans, Casey Curry, Joshua Harms, Luke Harms, Jerod Harms and Roy Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Weller and Robert Weller. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with military honors conducted at graveside.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 15 at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel with the Prayers of the Rosary beginning at 7:30 p.m.
