Rose Mary Newgaard, 76, of Sedalia, died Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012 in Jefferson City. She was born Oct. 29, 1935, the daughter Claude and Beulah (Hammond) Braden. Rose and Eugene Newgaard married Aug. 15, 1954.
She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She loved being a homemaker and her sons and grandchildren were the center of her life. She spent many enjoyable times attending their sporting events and other activities. She was a great cook and loved to sew.
She kept busy caring for the elderly and cleaning homes after Eugene died in 1989. She also walked many miles during her daily five-mile walks.
She is survived by two sons, Terry (Carol) Newgaard and Trent Newgaard, of Jefferson City; three grandchildren, Justin (Krista) Newgaard, Paige (Jade) Newgaard and Morgan Newgaard; two great grandchildren, Quinn Newgaard and Lexie Newgaard; her brother Eldon “Bud” Braden; her sister Jean Bates; four nieces, Pam and Trish Bates and Melva and Sandy Braden and six nephews, Barry Braden, Kevin and Mark Bates and Monte, Gary and Nero Lantz and numerous great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son Michael Newgaard and her sister Cleola Braden and nephews Alan Lantz and David Braden.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 6 at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home in Sedalia. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 9 at Roland Cemetery, Roland, Iowa.
