University Extension installs new officers

Don Hutcheson was installed as chairman of the Pettis County University of Missouri Extension at an annual meeting and banquet held Tuesday night at Best Western State Fair Motor, 32nd and Limit.

Also installed by Circuit Judge Robert Koffman were Dana Binder as vice chair, Joe Wells as treasurer and Patty Wood as secretary. They were officially elected on Jan. 23. 

Western Commissioner Larry Wilson was honored for his service to University Extension from 1995 to 2012.

Outgoing chairman Kevin Bond was presented with the Mergen Spirit Award.

Don Hutcheson and Gary McMullin were named to the Leader’s Honor Roll.

Advanced Master Gardner Billie Long gave a slide presentation on her 2011 trip to Egypt.

The Warner family was recognized as 2011 Farm Family of the Year.

Kay Sparks, 4-H Youth Development Specialist, noted that $5,300 was raised at the recent Extension dinner and auction, held at Our Savior Lutheran Church, with about 200 people in attendance. She also noted that the 4-H Foundation, established in 2008, awarded four $500 scholarships this past year.

Excel Bank provided the cost of the grilled ham meal.

4-H member Tyler Meyerkorth was recognized for taking a photo of the Pettis County Courthouse for the Pettis County Extension’s annual report cover.
