Earl Luebbering, a 44-year resident of Pettis County, announced his intentions on Tuesday, Jan. 24 to run for Eastern Commissioner on the Democratic ticket.
The announcement was made on the first floor lobby of the Pettis County Courthouse, surrounded by friends, well wishers and party faithful.
Luebbering, of Smithton, grew up on a farm in the Tipton area and graduated frm St. Andrew’s School. He served in the US Army from 1957 to 1960 and then began working for Cooke Sales and Service in Sedalia as a mechanic.
From there, he went on to work in construction as a heavy equipment mechanic for the rest of his career, including time with ralph Viebrock Construction in Sedalia and Hardy Construction/Sapp & Sons in Shelbyville, Mo.
He retired from Sapps & Sons in 2002. He also owned a family mobile wash business for seven years.
“I believe my experience in construction and having a small business will serve me well,” Luebbering said in a prepared statement. “I wamt to be involved in county government and bring a citizen’s persepective to help the county continue to move forward.”
