Tommy Rule Craig, 75, of Cole Camp, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at Boone Hospital, Columbia. He was born on Feb. 21, 1936, near Lincoln, a son of Troy Kenneth and June Beatrice (Rule) Craig.
He attended Fordney and Manilla schools. On Jan. 2, 1955, in Ionia, he was united in marriage to Marietta Balke, this union was blessed with three children, Marilyn Kay, Brenda Lea, and Eddy Thomas.
For 17 years, he lived in the Ionia area, where he worked for Moore’s Hatchery and raised poultry until the early 1960′s. He attended auctioneer school in Kansas City and auctioneered for 18 years. He spent his remaining years in the Cole Camp area, raising turkeys until his health began to fail in 1996.
He attended the First United Methodist Church of Cole Camp. He served his country honorably in the Army National Guard during the Korean War. He enjoyed tractor pulling, fishing, taking drives, and breakfast.
He is survived by his wife, Marietta Craig of the home; one daughter, Brenda L. Vansel and her husband Robert of Cole Camp; one son, Eddy T. Craig of Cole Camp; one sister, Donna Johnston of Windsor; six grandchildren, Lucas Vansel, Jacob Vansel, Thomas Ray Craig, Mary Craig, Aaron Craig, and Austin Craig; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Troy and June Craig, his daughter, Marilyn Kay Craig, and one brother, Kenneth Craig.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7 at First United Methodist Church, Cole Camp, with Pastor Donna Nichols officiating. Burial will be in
Pallbearers will be Lucas Vansel, Jacob Vansel, Thomas Ray Craig, Aaron Craig, Austin Craig, Simon Burns and Wayne Ebeling.
Union-Williams Cemetery, rural Cole Camp, with military honors by the American Legion Post No. 305 of Cole Camp.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the church.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to Union-Williams Cemetery, First United Methodist Church, or Cole Camp Steam and Antique Tractor Club in care of the Fox Funeral Home, Cole Camp.
