Freeman Frederick Mark, 84, of Sedalia, died Friday, Dec. 30, 2011 at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2, 2012 at Wesley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Rick Adams officiating. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012 at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Monday at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to Wesley United Methodist Church, in care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.

Born April 10, 1927 in Long Pine, Neb., he was the son of the late Ottis Paul and Mary Etna McBeth Mark. On May 30, 1957, in El Dorado Springs, Mo., he was married to Ruby Evelyn Ratje, who survives of the home.

Also surviving are a son, Alan Dale Mark, of Independence; two daughters, Pamela Baumgardner, of Billings, and Tina Mark, of Independence; a brother, Laurence Mark, of Centralia, Wash.; a sister Alice Mogabgab, of Bellingham, Wash.; and three grandchildren, Christopher, William and Ashley Mark. He was also preceded in death by three brothers; a sister; and a great-grandson, Isaac Mark.

Mr. Mark was a very active member of Wesley United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement in October 1982. He was a 50-year member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, and a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He enjoyed reading books on history, fiction and biographies. He also enjoyed many years of marriage and family life.
