Delores Aileen White, 78, of Okeechobee, Fla., died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011, at Hospice of Okeechobee.

She was born July 21, 1933, in Sedalia, a daughter of Edward and Viola Blaue Welling. On Feb. 2, 1952, at First United Methodist Church in Sedalia, she married Melvin E. White, who survives of the home.

Mrs. White graduated from Smith-Cotton High School in 1951. She and Melvin moved to Pleasant Valley, in 1961. She enjoyed her work as secretary at several schools in the North Kansas City School District. She enjoyed playing Dominoes with friends and especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She and Melvin retired to Okeechobee to be closer to their grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, surviving are two daughters, Julie White, of Farmington Hills, Mich., and Jerri White, of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two grandchildren, Alexandra Reid and Phillip Reid, both of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Archie Pine and Charles Pine; and a sister, Mattie Davenport.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents who raised her, Ed and Clara Blaue; and a brother, Benny Pine.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dan Hankins officiating.

Private burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Heckart Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Okeechobee or the Alzheimer’s Association, in care of the funeral home.
