Clara Viola Harbit, 67, of Hughesville, died Saturday, May 28, 2011, at her home.
She was born June 29, 1943, in Morgan County, the youngest of three children born to William Ben and Mamie (Kroeschen) Goodman. On Oct. 31, 1964, in Sedalia, she married Donnie Harbit, who preceded her in death on June 6, 2000.
Mrs. Harbit was a member of First Christian Church. She worked at Lamy’s, Inter-State and Payless Cashways, but she was most proud of her dedication as a wife and mother. She was well known for her immaculate housekeeping. She loved to travel with family and friends. Her granddaughter, Brittani, was the light of her life and they shared many good times together.
She is survived by a daughter, Pam Hunter, and her husband, Bennie, of Hughesville; a brother, Donnie Goodman, of Columbia; and a granddaughter, Brittani Hunter, of Hughesville.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Belle Fackler.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m., Thursday, June 2 at First Christian Church with the Reverend Robert Sisney officiating.
Pallbearers will be Bill Wheeler, Terry Davis, Steve Futscher, Travis Wheeler, Bennie Hunter and Terry Goodman. Honorary pallbearers will be PFC Trevor Davis, Bob Caton, Albert Hartman, Donnie Goodman, Billy Wheeler, Mike Geml and Janice Shaw.
Burial will be in Highland Sacred Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the church from 1 p.m. until service time.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Bothwell Hospice in care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
