Robert “Bob” Goldsmith, 86, of Sedalia, died Saturday May 21, 2011 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
Bob was born May 14, 1925, in Sedalia, a son of Agnes Goldsmith Corson. On March 6, 1949, he married Frances R. Parks who survives of the home.
Bob was a member of the Army Air Corps during WWII where he served as a tail gunner on a B-17. Bob co-owned and operated the Bi-Rite Market in Sedalia for 21 years. He was a Civil Service employee at Whiteman Air Force Base retiring in 1990. He was a member of the First Baptist Church where he was a deacon emeritus and the church treasurer for 35 years.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a great-granddaughter.
He is survived by two daughters; Janet Drenon and her husband Ken of Jefferson City, Melody Clinton and her husband Doug of Sycamore, Ill.., five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, with Rev. Dr. Drew Hill officiating.
Casket bearers will be Steve Heimsoth, Ron Cunningham, Austin Clinton, David Bergman, Ken Drenon and Doug Clinton.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Heckart Funeral Home.
