Forrest D. Eldred, 79, of rural Windsor, Missouri, died Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at the Harry S. Truman VA Medical Center, Columbia, Mo.
He was born Oct. 1, 1931, in Calhoun, Mo., the son of Lloyd A. Eldred and Omah Eloise (Elliott) Eldred. On Oct. 18, 1953, in Windsor, he married Barbara Jane Feagans, who survives of the home.
Mr. Eldred was in the United States Air Force for 23 years, serving during the Korean Conflict and in the Vietnam War, retiring in 1977.
After his retirement, he began farming and raising cattle for a number of years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Windsor; and the American Legion, Post #82, Windsor.
In addition to his wife, Barbara, Forrest is survived by a son, Don Eldred, Houston, Texas; 2 daughters, Suzanna Hommertzheim and her husband John, Kansas City, Mo.; Carol Harper and her husband Pete, Wichita, Kan.; a brother, Kenneth Eldred and his wife Norma Jean, Windsor.; 5 grandchildren, Kelle and her husband James; Amanda; Shauna and her husband Russell; Stefanie and Kurt; a great-grandchild, Peyton; two nephews and two great-nieces.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, May 7 at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, with Rev. Doug Hall officiating. Burial will be in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. Friends may call Friday, from 2 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home and the family will receive friends before the service from 1 to 2 p.m., at the funeral home.
