Ruby Fernanda Spellmeyer Martin Hatfield died at age 90, on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Rest Haven Convalescent Center.
She was born Jan. 18, 1921, in Sedalia, the youngest of six children born to Louis Albert Spellmeyer and Dorothy Virginia Franklin. On July 4, 1942, she married Dorsey Riley Martin, who preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 1982. On April 1, 2002, in Howard County, she married Ray William Hatfield, who died Jan. 5, 2011.
She is survived by two children, David R. Martin (Barbara), of Fort Mill, SC, and Dorothy V. Bredwell (Jerry), of Bonner Springs, KS; a daughter-in-law, Pam Martin, of Columbia; five grandchildren, Kim Murray (Scott), of Budapest, Hungary, Jay & Jeremy Bredwell, of Shawnee, KS, Michelle Crookston (Todd), of Independence, and Chris Martin (Jeanne), of Sedalia; six great-grandchildren; and a step-son, Floyd W. Hatfield, of Sedalia.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Ronald F. Martin, who died April 5, 2002; five siblings, Earl L., Carl Albert, Avery Harm, Geneva Buhlig and Violet Hieronymus.
A private family gravesite service will be held at a later date in Highland Sacred Gardens. She will be interred next to Dorsey R Martin.
