Robert Louis Sabin, 71, of Sedalia, died Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at his home.

He was born June 14, 1939, in Newton, Iowa, a son of Wilbur Louis and Thelma Irene Arndt Sabin. On April 24, 1986, in Maui, Hawaii, he was married to Barbara Ann Brown Arnold, who survives of the home.

Mr. Sabin was retired from the United States Air Force, reaching the rank of Master Sergeant. He served during Vietnam, and also served two years in the Marine Corps. He earned a business degree from Central Missouri State University. He was a member of First Christian Church, the Masonic Lodge, the Shrine Club, Moose Lodge 1494, VFW Post 2591, American Legion Post 16, and a former member of the Sedalia Country Club. He enjoyed playing golf, boating, gardening and cooking.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Jennifer Woodmansee, and her husband, Guy, and LeaAnne Tedrow, all of California; his mother, Thelma Machin, of Houston, MO; his stepmother, Lorene Sabin, of Baxter, IA; a grandson, Derek Woodmansee; three granddaughters, Amber, Megan and Alyssa Tedrow; a stepson, Terry Arnold, and his wife, Kimi, of Sedalia; four step-grandchildren, Mindy Beebe, Ryan Arnold, Tarah Toellner, and William Blake Arnold; five great-grandchildren, Hannah, Taylor, Katelyn and Easton Beebe, and Tyler Bleau Arnold; five sisters, Bev Nance, Linda Fuller, Patty Schwienart and Marlene Sabin, all of Iowa, and Vicki Sillyman, of Houston, MO; a brother, Jerry Sabin, of Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father; his grandparents; and a stepson, Michael S. Arnold.

Graveside services, a Masonic service and military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Mid-Missouri Humane Society or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
