Isabelle Lena Young, 89, Sedalia, died on Tuesday April 26. 2011 at Rest Haven Convalescent and Retirement Home.
She was born on Dec. 19, 1921 in Clear Creek, daughter of Mikel and Caroline Kempf Twenter. She was married on April 26, 1948 in Clear Creek, Missouri to Jake C. Young and he preceded her in death on Aug. 7, 1988.
She was baptized on Dec. 21, 1921 at St. Johns Catholic Church in Clear Creek. She worked on the farm until her husband passed away. She also worked at Town and Country Shoe Factory. Isabelle was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Daughters Of Isabella. She enjoyed fishing, crocheting and gardening when her health allowed. She loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by two brothers; Delphinus Twenter and Vincent Twenter both of Columbia, three sisters; Cecilia Gerke of Sedalia, Margaret Wessing and Mary Ann Wessing both of Blue Springs, MO, Many nieces and nephews including Charles and Beverly Gerke of Sedalia. She is preceded by a brother; Joseph Twenter and a infant brother Walter Twenter, two sisters Colletta Young and Florence Gerke. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday April 29, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Bill Miller C.PP.S. officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Gerke, Donald Gerke, Raymond Young, Larry Young, Gale O’Dell, Sharon Crane. The Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday April 28 with visitation to follow at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Clifton City.
