He was born July 5, 1926, in Smithton, a son of William and Dora Cramer McNulty. On Aug. 15, 1965 he married Violet P. Ferguson in Pettis County, Mo. who preceded him in death on April 1, 2004.
C.J. worked in maintenance for Pittsburg-Corning. He liked to go to coffee with his buddies and go to the Senior Center to play cards. C.J. was a member of Providence Baptist Church and was a World War II Navy veteran.
C.J. is survived by two daughters; Donna Dolan of Washington and Ella “Dollie” Hayes of Sedalia, a son; Jim McNulty of Springfield, Ill., two step-daughters; Connie E. Welpman of Warsaw and Etta Hartley of Sedalia, two step-sons; Keith Birge of Jefferson City, and Terry Birge of Lee’s Summit, three sisters; Betty Bowman of Hughesville, Caroline Quinlan of Sedalia and Margaret Bowman of Odessa, six grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren, two great-great-step grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter; Deborah McNulty, a brother; Garland McNulty and a sister; June Brown.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Providence Baptist Church, with Rev. Marlin Brown officiating.
Casket bearers will be Taylor Hartley, Michael Hayes, Dan Fischer, Rick Bowman, Bob Bowman and Tom Bowman.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Heckart Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Providence Baptist Church.
Burial will be at Highland Sacred Gardens Cemetery with military honors.
